Nature offers so much beauty. Landscapes are a rewarding subject for working out depth and perspective. Sunlight turns the elements into so many colours. Sometimes with and sometimes without people in it. People have a personal relationship with the place where they are. I love being outdoors, and I want to show this.

Caught light My feeling is light and airy when I walk between the trees on one of my morning walks and see the light creeping down along the treetops.

Still life in the polder

Outside we were painting, the canvas stayed put aside for a long time. It was unfinished, the idea was there, but the moment of sitting outside no longer. Memories and photos work very well. Hey, did I see something swimming there now? Almost camouflaged. but still visible. Peace. And again enjoy, the silence the sun on the sun hat .. the experience happens again, when looking at this painting. And I remember how we were sitting along the shore with our easels.

Utrecht also has such beautiful places. This way I regularly drive a route that leads me to this lovely bridge from 1833. I enjoy it every time. For example, autumn has a beautiful light as it retains on my retina and on the canvas.

Mountains in India This painting is for my son Erik Suurmond, who has his work a couple of times a year in India. For me a fantastic challenge to depict hi sfeeling of admiration, and a good study in the technique
It is the view looking down from a higher point into the vally of Sikkem. The water is floating into the painting. Aside of the road will become visible the typical prayer flags, people in india place round the country to forfill their dreams.
