Artstudio tour Artgroup BeeKk
- During the national Spring 2026 Studio Weekend, the BeeKk art collective will be joining the organising art groups, with artists opening their studios to the public. My workspace at the Loods Ateliers is also open again. In addition to Dinie van Buuren’s studio, there will also be a guest exhibitor at the Loods: “van Alkine” with her bags.

Deos protector noster
2026Whilst working on the Tré Kronor, I examined every detail carefully. In doing so, I discovered a Latin inscription on the palace façade and realised that it read ‘Deus Protector nos (ter)’; the final part should appear behind the little house. Govert took great pains to incorporate many details into his depiction of street life in old Stockholm. And, coming from a deeply religious family, he also drew attention to the religious invocation: ‘God protect us’. I learnt that this text, which appeared on many important old buildings in the 17th century, was also found on coats of arms. For a mini-exhibition around Easter, to which I was invited to contribute under the theme ‘Kyrie eleison’, I decided to paint the text in close-up in that 17th-century style. The Hoogekampse plas
2024The Hoogekampse plas is a piece of water( and land) that after a time as a garbage dump. has been addressed and then taken into protection as a nature area. You can often find bird watchers there with their binoculars to see what birds and bird species are present. At least it is a safe nesting area for the bank swallow. I occasionally include the area in my walking route.
A swan landing

Girl at the mountain lake
2025How wonderful it is to sit and dream on the shore of this lake high up in the Austrian mountains. Sophie dared to step onto that rock to sit there for a moment and enjoy nature. It reminded me of that other girl in Copenhagen. But here I saw a very fairytale-like scene in a completely different environment. And no ship fell into the trap.

2025Along the Voordorpse Dijk, near my Atelier, I was struck by this row of trees. One day I packed my things and a stool, to start this little work there. Later in my studio, I worked it out.
When it flows
2025Standing on the beach, I can enjoy the water of the sea, which with ebb and flow, leaves tracks in the beach. The water flows and finds its way through and across the sand.
Entrance prevented

Come on in
2023Come on in Utrecht has characteristic canals, with a lower part, where you will find entrances to wharf cellars. You can walk, at the bottom of stairs to stairs and find your way to the sidewalk and street above. You will find there along the canals, so the access to various establishments. Like here a warm welcome from Humphry's in the Center of Utrecht in a bend of "the old canal". These canals form a historical heritage that should be protected and cherished.

2018While I am on holiday, abroad, the sparrows take it too. In the warm summer sun, I see small groups playing along the edge of a lake. The colors are so natural that it is as if they are wearing a camouflage suit. With the soaking, the water that gently drifts on the bank breaks into small shiny waves.

Development
2019Rita's work is always evolving. Whereby she likes to work freely, as can be seen e.g. in this self-portrait containing the portrait of her daughter. She also paints portraits on commission, whereby the client's request is incorporated into a painting in the desired format. This painting was inspired by the year of Rembrandt and the red blood moon in early 2019.
